About us

Christ the King is a friendly and welcoming school where the children work hard in school to be the best they can and they work hard to make their community a better place. Our children deserve the best opportunities and we know that for many of our children learning would be enhanced if they had access to modern portable technology, such as iPads in their classrooms.

We have high expectations of all our pupils both academically and in terms of behaviour. Our aim is to inspire and motivate our children to unlock their full potential. We encourage our pupils to think critically and to develop a growth mindset so that they view challenges as opportunities to learn.

What do we want?

We want to buy 5 Apple iPads.

Who is this for?

This is for our whole school, to use across a range of subjects:

Early Years and Nursery - our children need to experience early programming and control of robots and devices. Without access to modern technology, this is not possible.

Literacy - Some of our children find spelling and reading difficult. Our iPads would enable our children to access software to help them improve and practice their spelling and reading.

Science - We will convert our iPads to Digital Microscopes. We will breathe new life into science lessons by allowing students to explore the world of science using an iPad as a microscope.

By converting the iPad to a digital microscope our children will also capture videos and photos while exploring the world around them to develop a classroom project. Once the students have captured photos and videos, they can convert them to a group classroom project by organising the content into a presentation or a digital book. They can also animate the photos and integrate them into a storyline to enhance their understanding of the world.

History and Geography - We can use the iPads to create an augmented reality experience for our children using the Aurasma app.

The children will be able to create their own videos and photos to enhance their learning. For example, the children could create images and movies of 3D prehistoric animals on a local street in our area to help reinforce learning, add content to classroom materials, place video messages in study materials, and more.

Art - we need to give our children the opportunity to explore and experience digital media and digital photography as an art form so they can experiment and create their own artwork.

Our pupils are keen to use the iPads in music to make improvements to their recordings and also in English, when they would be particularly useful for those pupils that enjoy reading but struggle with learning difficulties.

5 x 9.7" iPads 128GB Sliver @ £354 each https://www.jigsaw24.com/products/education-apple-ipad-128gb-wifi-mr7j2ed

We are hoping to get an education discount if we buy in bulk.

Total = £1,770 (incl VAT & delivery)

If we're fortunate enough to raise more than our target, then we would like to buy an additional 10 iPads so that we could have a whole class accessing the iPads at the same time, for a total of £3,540.
