About us

We are a Community Primary School that has been established for over 40 years. Our lovely name is in honour of a previous Lady Mayoress of Coventry, Pearl Hyde. Our school has a wide range of students and we have a strong ethos based on values which the children love.

What do we want?

We want to purchase some sparkles, which are programmable lights. We would like to do a project which shows the children how fairy lights work, as this fits with Diwali and Christmas. They can set up a chain of lights and then programme them to change colour, flash and chase in the same way fairy lights do. We think it would be very exciting for the children to see how this real-life equipment works.

Who is this for?

Initially this is a project for the Year 3 and Year 4, however once we have the equipment we could use it in all the other year groups. For example, the Year 5 and 6 could use it to replicate morse code.

Why do we want it?

We strongly believe that having a real life focus in our lessons helps the children relate their learning to their future role in society. Practical applications always help to embed their learning more effectively and besides, it will be enormous fun! When learning is fun, it can be so much more effective - we will be making lasting memories. Imagine your child coming home and telling you all about their programmable lights - how exciting!

8 Sparkles (Panel of 25) @ £30.00

Total = £240.00 (incl VAT - delivery is FREE!)

Since we've been fortunate enough to reach our initial target, we would now like to also buy:

The additional target is @ £127.20, so:

New total: £367.20.

This will allow us to get even more fun from our programming lessons.

Please donate if you are able - every small amount will help us reach our target and provide amazing learning for the children. If you can't donate right now please share, share, share this project with your friends and family and work colleagues - ask them to share too!

Simply share the link at the top of the page on Twitter, Facebook, email, on your website or blog - or whenever you speak to someone. The more people we reach, the more chance we have of meeting our target - please help us make a difference to our lovely pupils!
