About us

At our school, we are proud to have served in this community for over 110 years. Located as we are in the very heart of the beautiful seaside town of Morecambe, we do not serve one particular area but rather the wider community.

Our school is a dynamic, exciting place to learn where we strive to encourage children to become lifelong learners.

What do we want?

We would like to buy 10 Kindle Fire HD.

Who is this for?

This would be for our Key Stage 2 pupils to support their reading in a range of subjects to support the whole curriculum.

Why do we want it?

The use of e-readers would be invaluable to our children across the whole school, from Nursery to Year 6. The development of reading for pleasure is one of our main school areas for improvement as we find ourselves in an area where reading is seen as 'not cool'. Alongside this, we are working with children who have poor vocabulary and reading skills.

Technology is very appealing and accessible for our children. They are confident and resilient when working in a technological way. With this, their learning is heightened in a non-threatening environment. They are able to work co-operatively and independently, accessing different apps on a personal level with teacher support and direction.

The game 'Kahoot' is an excellent example of this - fast-paced and relevant learning. E-readers open up a whole world of engagement, personalisation and collaboration within the classroom. This allows our children to work and excel at their own pace and level.

E-readers open up a huge library source, including free classics, which will extend our better readers to be great readers, modern and new releases to entice our readers who can't choose books independently or find them "boring". The range of non-fiction would help children focus and study more efficiently in a monitored and fun way.

E-readers allow integrated marking text features so reading skills of annotation and highlighting would be shared with the whole class through interactive whiteboards. Learning and revisiting would be instant for teacher and pupils alike. Children would have access to an incredible amount of new opportunities, from blogging and tweeting authors to learning how better to collaborate across teams and with their teachers - technology empowers students to be more creative and connected.

20 x Fire HD 8 Tablet @ £49.99

Total = £999.80 (incl VAT & delivery)

If we're fortunate enough to raise more than our target, then we would also like to buy 20 x MoKo Case for Fire HD 8 Tablet @ £15.99 so our extra total = £319.80.
