About us

Set in one of the most deprived areas of England, Manorfield Primary School has complex needs to meet in terms of social, economic, health, language and cultural challenges in the community it serves. Despite these huge barriers we are determined that our children will be successful and will go on to secondary school as confident, highly educated pupils. To achieve its goal of developing the whole child, the school must pay equal attention to its students’ educational, personal and social needs. These go well beyond the areas covered by statutory funding and extend outside the school into work with parents and the local community.

What do we want?

We have an aim of introducing a food education programme in order to address the children’s poor health that is caused by high levels of deprivation and lack of education round good nutrition. At Manorfield 39.3% of 11 year olds are overweight or obese. This is significantly above the national average. In order to do this the first step is to build a curriculum kitchen where it can take place. We have already raised sufficient funds to transform the space into a kitchen where our Chef in Residence can teach our pupils about food and make best use of the amazing produce from our award winning garden. We have an on-going food budget but need to raise funds to fill it with the best possible equipment.

Who is this for?

This is for our whole school and their parents.

5 x Frameless electric induction hobs, touch control, 4 burner, sensor control panel, timers for each zone, frameless, residual heat indicators, booster function (H55 x W576 x D518mm 1 year guarantee in educational teaching environment) @ £350 each.

If we're fortunate enough to raise more than our target, then we would also like to buy
