About us....

Dodford First School was established in 1877 and is one of the smallest Schools in Bromsgrove set in the beautiful countryside of Dodford Village. With a maximum of 75 pupils and only three classes in the whole school (Wrens, Robins & Owls), Our PTA is extremely "Hands on" to help provide much needed funds for extra technology and activities for our wonderful school.

What do we want?

We would like to buy three Apple Ipads, one for each class...

Who is this for?

This is for our whole school to use on a daily basis enhancing their learning and engaging them to be "digitally literate" as well as allowing our teachers to challenge them in a fun way. As a small school our budget is limited, and whilst pupils have opportunities to develop their digital skills, they would benefit greatly from being able to use up-to-date devices across all of their subjects.

Maybe even to learn how to create their own apps. How amazing would that be! Three new iPads would definitely help us to do this.

Why do we want it?

IPads are our kids version of a desktop PC. In school, we have a few laptops for the children to use, but these take time to open up and log on to, whereas iPads can be almost instant and therefore enable children to make better use of their learning time in class. Our Children don't just need to be able to know how to use an ipad physically, they need to know how to use the apps and have a sense of confidence with it, to get an idea for what it can do for them and their learning adventure.

We need to be able to teach the children how to use applications such as Google Apps and Microsoft office to downloading videos and making presentations, so that they can use these skills in the future workplace. Our Teachers and the pupils could also access interactive apps to supplement their maths and science curriculum's along with learning about e-safety. There is so much they can do if they were to have them!

We do have some iPads but this is not enough for us to enable children to use iPads regularly as part of their learning. We feel that this is holding the children back and we are unable to offer the exciting computing curriculum that we would like to.

So with our pitch in mind.... The figures that add up are below...

3 x 10.2-inch iPad Wi-Fi 32GB - Space Grey £349.00 https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/

Sub Total = £1,049 (incl VAT* & delivery)

3 covers @ £55.00 = £165.00

3 Apple Pens @ £89.00 = £267.00

Grand Total = £1,481

3% cost of processing donations approx £40.00

(With 75 Children.... That's a cost of £19.75 per pupil. )

STRETCH TARGETIf we're fortunate enough to raise more than our target, then we would also like to buy...

The Ipad apple Keyboards (£159.00) to go with the Ipads.... This would be amazing!!!

And any additional funds to purchase new apps for the teachers to be able to use and share with the Children. There are so many super apps designed to enhance learning, it would be fantastic if we were able to use these ipads as part of our learning across the curriculum every day.

My Last Plug I promise... BUT... if we were to have a fairy godmother and she didn't mind us being cheeky... an Ipad per year group instead of class would just be IMMENSE!!!!

On a serious note, small village schools like us at Dodford First School depend on donations and grants to support our budgets throughout the year. If we only raise enough money to buy one iPad from this then it will still make a positive difference to the children in our school. So Please Please DO donate... It would be lovely if you could support us even if it is only £1 or 2. But if you can't donate right now you can help us in other ways! ...

Share this project with anyone such as friends or local businesses that you think would LOVE to support us. Please tell our story on Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin, Facebook... anywhere you think we could make our target be reached!

Thank you for reading! Lets make our little ones dreams a REALITY!
