About us

We're a large primary school in Hillingdon - Hayes Park School. We have a 90 place Nursery, and a three form entry for the rest of the school (Reception to Year 6).

What do we want?

We want to buy compost and plants for our flower and vegetable beds. We particularly like to grow vegetables as it helps our children to understand the connection between the plant and the plate, and we like plants that encourage bees to help pollinate the plants!

Who is this for?

This is for the whole school community, and their parents/carers who come into the grounds.

Why do we want it?

Growing flowers and vegetables will allow our pupils to see the connections between environment - the flowers attracting the bees which then help to pollinate the vegetable plants. It also helps show them that vegetables don't come in plastic packets! The vegetables produced can be used in school, or supplied to parents who are then encouraged to let us know what delights they have cooked with our produce. We have flower and vegetable beds around the school, with a number of them specifically for the children in our ASD unit to access.
