About us

We are a large school in the centre of Dundee city, based on a shared campus.

What do we want?

We would like to fundraise for 6 codeapillars to be able to introduce coding and computational thinking to infant stages to prepare them for coding and algorithms later in their school career.

Who is this for?

This will initially be a resource to be shared by 6 classes at infant level (primary 3 and below) but may be able to be used across the whole school.

Why do we want it?

Although we are fortunate enough to have access to desktop computers, being a shared campus means we do not always have as much access as we would like. Some classes have a scheduled time in the ICT suite on a fortnightly basis instead of a weekly basis.

The benefit of the codeapillars would mean that on weeks or times we would not have access to the ICT suite, groups of children would be able to practise running algorithms and computational thinking by "coding" the codeapillar. The fact it is bright and easy to use makes it an accessible resource for the children we would be targeting.

It would also benefit children across the entire curriculum as it has links to numeracy (directions, ordering operations, etc) and literacy (following instructions, etc).

6 x Fisher Price Think and Learn Code-a-pillar @ 54.99

Total = £329.94 (incl VAT & delivery)

If we're fortunate enough to raise more than our target, then we would also like to buy an expansion pack for each Code-a-pillar to be able to maximise its potential and expand our knowledge of coding and what we can do with it (ranging from £14 - £40).
