About us

We are a two-form entry primary school based in Colchester, Essex. Our classes range from reception to year 6.

What do we want?

We would like to purchase a yearly subscription to audio books, which will allow every child to hear the stories they love. This will allow us access to over 20,000 different titles-something for everyone!

Who is this for?

This is for our whole school. Every child would have access through our iPads.

Why do we want it?

We want to inspire our children to write what they’re passionate about. Allowing them to hear stories which interest them will encourage them to write powerfully. As some children struggle with fluency, they don’t always get a chance to read the books they want and they know they’re different to their classmates. They recognise others looking at them when they have to read the book, which is for children a few years below them. Giving them access to audiobooks will eradicate that problem. They can listen to the books they want and discuss them with their friends. Why should they not be exposed to the vocabulary of harder books? Research has shown that children who read often do better at writing. At Brinkley, we are passionate about every child feeling equal and achieving their full potential. This will give every child, regardless of their ability, a chance to be just like their friends and learn, using age-appropriate materials.

EPL1 audiobooks-annual subscription = £995

Sub total = £995

+3% payment processing fees (charged by the payment provider)

Grand Total = £1,025

If we're fortunate enough to raise more than our target, then we would also like to buy some headsets that can be used and shared amongst the classes. These will allow children to listen to books in the class without distracting others.
