About us

Beverley Grammar School, in Beverley, East Yorkshire was founded in 700 AD and is the oldest state school in England. Currently the school teaches around 800 boys and operates a joint Sixth Form of approximately 200 students with the nearby Beverley Girls High School.

What do we want?

We are hoping to raise £1485.00 to purchase an F24 chassis to build a second gravity racer 'BGS2', we also estimate costs of £700.00 to repair the existing racer and for race entry and transport hire. We are fortunate to have received some sponsorship towards these costs, but this does not fully cover our planned expenditure.

Who is this for?

The club is open to all students, including the girls in J6th. We are restricted to a club size of 12, so participants change each year.

Why do we want it?

Students who participate in co-curricular activities have a sense of commitment to whatever they are involved in. This is because as they take part in a club activity they are a member of, they have to commit to it and give their all, and this commitment extends to all other areas of their lives. The club also offer social opportunities and improves self-esteem and self-confidence. They are also gaining valuable engineering knowledge which translates into their lessons.
