So we've now added a stretch target to £750 to raise money for the trips that other classes will go on! Details below.

[This project was made by our Year 2 students.]

Number of students that will benefit: 22

Age of students: 6-7

Percentage eligible for free school meals: 28%

About us

We are a small one form entry infant school, just outside of Guildford in Surrey. We love learning outside and learning through play. At Wood Street we learn lots of different things, including: literacy, maths, science, art and woodland school. We are very eco-friendly. We have won the Green Flag award and the LotC (learning outside the classroom) Silver award.

We have 3 key values: respect, resilience and responsibility. We try to do this everyday and be kind and helpful to our friends and teachers. Our School Council come up with lots of ideas to raise money for our school and to help our local community.

What do we want?

Year 2 have been working hard all year to plan our trip to the London Sea Life Centre and the London Eye. We are trying to fund the trip ourselves because it costs over £750! We are a small class so it will cost our parents lots of money. This isn't fair because some families don't have much money. This is our trip so it is our responsibility to try and raise the money to go.

So far we have designed our own chocolate, made it and then sold it after school. From this we have raised £125. We are really proud of our effort because we are only 6 and 7 years old. In February, we are going to hold an Alice in Wonderland tea party to raise some more money for our trip.

Why do we want it?

We think that this trip will be really good for our learning. In the summer, we are learning about the oceans so it will be good for us to see what lives under the sea. We have done lots of learning about London and will be doing more this year. It will be really good for us to go on the London eye and see all of the buildings we have been learning about.

It will also be our last trip at Wood Street before we have to leave and go to our next schools. We have loved our time at Wood Street and have made lots of really good memories and friends. This trip will give us lots more memories, and we will feel really proud because we have raised the money ourselves.

Coach @ £420

Sea Life Centre @ £115

London Eye @ £228.85

The cost for each child is £34.72

Total = £763.85 but we are only crowdfunding for £500.

Stretch target

Now that we've been fortunate enough to reach our target, we would like to reach £750 to use any additional money to create a fund other classes can use to help them with their school trips.

As a small school, and a one form entry school, our costs for trips are even higher, usually due to the coach. This money will help other classes to go on amazing school trips at a lesser cost. This means our project will now not only benefit us, but all the other children in our school!

Please donate to help us reach our target and go on this amazing trip. We are really excited and looking forward to it. We hope you can help us to go.
