About us

We are a non selective Secondary School in Buckinghamshire. In the Design & Technology Department at Sir William Ramsay, we believe that all pupils should make outstanding progress in their learning, regardless of their starting point. Through purposeful, challenging lessons, our pupils are supported to become confident, creative and successful learners.

What do we want?

We primarily want a LS3040 Desktop Laser (420x300mm) for our Design & Technology Department. Ideally we would also like to afford network installation on 22 computers and a Robo R2 High-Performance Smart 3D Printer.

Who is this for?

The Design & Technology and Art Faculty, meaning all students will have access to it.

Why do we want it?

*Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep your balance, you must keep moving*

It is imperative that we facilitate learning environments that are fluid, dynamic, and relevant. We want to move away from the perception that Design & Technology is all about nailing a few pieces of wood together. It is about taking on a challenge, researching around the problem and designing a workable solution. To be the future of the design and manufacturing industry, our students must have the opportunity to embrace industry standard technology. These items will enable us to provide our students with an outstanding education in CAD/CAM processes.

Design & Technology integrates Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. The end results are students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process. It allows students to connect their learning in these critical areas together with arts practices, design principles and curriculum standards to provide the whole pallet of learning at their disposal.

Help us to develop the future innovators, educators, leaders, and learners of the 21st century! "We are always learning, always growing, always experimenting" – Sir William Ramsay.
