Our WiFi is old and tired. Please help us replace it so that we can use Virtual Reality goggles.

We have reached our target! There are still three days to go so please help us to reach our new stretch target (details below).

Number of students that will benefit: 420

Age of students: 5-11

Percentage eligible for free school meals: 7%

About us

We are a Catholic primary school situated to the north of Guildford in Surrey.

Our school population is drawn from a variety of nationalities and our dedicated and talented staff offer a wide range of extra curricular activities to add to the creative and stimulating way they present the curriculum.

Even though Years 4, 5 and 6 go on residential trips, which are used as stimulation for creative work as well as factual learning, it would be amazing to give all year groups Virtual Reality 'experiences'.

To be able to use VR goggles to provide those experiences, we need to have reliable wifi throughout the school.

This would also enable us to use the classroom set of wireless laptops we are aiming to use as well. The children already make use of our computing suite to learn computing skills and enhance their subject learning

What do we want?

We want to buy up to 15 Ubiquiti Unifi Long Range wireless access points (installation and setup will be carried out by our technician).

Who is this for?

This is for our whole school, to use across a range of subjects.

Why do we want it?

It will enable us to make use of 32 laptops in mobile trollies, so that the internet and the school network can be accessed in classrooms rather than just in the computing suite.

Eventually we aim to invest in virtual reality goggles which will allow our students to visualise their History and Geography lessons more clearly and allow them to interact with subject matter in a totally new way. It will enable them to experience places they have never been.

15 x Ubiquiti Unifi AP AC LR Wireless access points @ £96 each including vat - Link to possible supplier

Total = £1,460

Stretch target

If we're fortunate enough to raise more than our target, then we would also like to buy some Avantis Virtual Reality goggles to the tune of £1,999.
