About us

We are Ysgol Gyfun Rhydywaun, Aberdare, South Wales. We are a state-funded Welsh medium secondary school of around 1,000 pupils.

What do we want?

We want to buy 5 Apple iPads.

Who is this for?

Initially this is for a project that we are running to train and develop individuals as IT ambassadors.  They will use their skills in the wider community, e.g. in feeder primary schools, old people's homes and adult workshops. It is hoped that if this is successful, the project will be developed further to include a wider skills base, involving more pupils, therefore enhancing the training that the group could provide and reaching further into the school's community.

Why do we want it?

Computing: the ambassadors will gain enhanced training in the use of specific software, therefore benefiting them individually in terms of their own skills. They will be trained in the use of software that is beyond the scope of the curriculum, but is widely used in everyday work, therefore allowing them to provide specific training to individuals or groups that might not have access to or the knowledge to use certain software packages.

5 x 9.7" iPads 32GB Sliver @ £319 each https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/buy-ipad/ipad-9-7/32gb-silver-wifi

We hope to gain an educational discount.

Total = £1,595 (incl VAT & delivery)

If we're fortunate enough to raise more than our target, then we would purchase more iPads so that we could train more individuals and offer help to more people.
