About us

Poplar Farm Primary is a brand new school and opened its doors for the first time in September 2018 in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Poplar is two form entry; we currently have our first two classes who are taking every opportunity this new school offers. The school passed its pre-opening Ofsted with flying colours and has received a lot of positive feedback from parents and pupils alike. Our two EYFS classes are learning to be engaging members of the community through visits from The Grantham Tennis Club and the local Fire Service.

The school strives to provide a varied and engaging curriculum through the use of technology and community engagement. Pupils and parents were keen to get involved in their first harvest festival; collecting food to be donated to the local food bank.

The children are getting used to technology through using iPads to learn about shapes, colours and cause and effect. Our pupils are fortunate to have access to Bee-Bots, giving them an early introduction to basic coding.

What do we want?

Sensory Pebbles.

Who is this for?

This equipment will be used by our 48 EYFS children and the new cohort joining us in September. While sensory equipment is primarily for children with SEND it is also beneficial to our mainstream pupils. Using this equipment, our pupils develop an understanding of cause and effect which is a principal building block for coding and programming.

We currently have some children with SEND needs, any sensory equipment will be highly beneficial to them in helping them to relax and understand their environment. While the number of SEND children at Poplar Farm is currently low, we expect this number to grow as the school reaches capacity.

Why do we want it?

We want this equipment to ensure all our pupils have their needs met and have opportunities to reach their potential. For pupils without EHCPs (Educational Health Care Plans), they will access an engaging space which brings education to life and supports them to develop gross and fine motor skills and expand their world view. By providing sensory equipment, we ensure pupils with EHCPs feel part of the Poplar Farm family and aren’t excluded from mainstream education.
