About us

Cale Green Primary School is a small primary school in Stockport. We have 311 pupils. Cale Green is a vibrant, truly comprehensive school with children from a wide range of different backgrounds, reflecting the diverse community found in the Cale Green and Davenport area.

What do we want?

We would like to buy a set of 5 iPads and protective cases, so that more of our children can access the Internet for important research, and also use educational apps that help with learning important basic skills such as times tables, spellings and grammar.

Who is this for?

All our children would be able to use the iPads to support their learning across the whole primary curriculum, including art, music and PE.

Why do we want it?

Many children have iPads and tablets at home and use these daily, which means they have some really good skills. In school, we have lots of laptops for the children to use, but these take time to open up and log on to, whereas iPads can be up almost instantly and therefore enable children to make better use of their learning time in class, especially when using them for research. We are finding that children can struggle with using the keyboard, especially younger children, but have no problems using the touch screen of the iPad, which is far easier.

We do have some iPads (3 per class), but this is not enough for us to enable children to use iPads regularly as part of their learning. We feel that this is holding the children back and we are unable to offer the exciting computing curriculum that we would like to. There are so many super apps designed to enhance learning, such as King of Maths, Zoom and Phonics Island. It would be fantastic if we were able to use iPads as part of our learning across the curriculum every day.

If we are successful we would like to purchase more iPads for other children across the school.
